About the conference

Connecting research and practice in agricultural water management

Welcome to MNCN 2026, the maiden virtual conference of the Northwest Region, bringing together engineers, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to advance the future of agricultural water management and mechanization in Northwest Nigeria. Over two days, the conference shares research, practical experience, and policy direction on how climate-smart irrigation, drainage, and mechanization can strengthen food security and rural livelihoods across the region.

Call for papers

The organising committee invites researchers, engineers, academics, postgraduate students, and development practitioners to submit original abstracts and papers addressing the conference theme and sub-themes.

  • Abstracts should be 250 to 300 words, stating the objective, method, key findings, and relevance to the theme.
  • Abstracts are submitted through the Microsoft CMT portal.
  • Authors of accepted abstracts are invited to submit a full paper.
  • Full papers should be 8 to 12 pages, in A4 format with 2.5 cm margins, Times New Roman 12 point, 1.5 line spacing, and referenced in a consistent numbered or author-date style.
  • Each full paper should include a structured abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, and references.
  • Abstracts and full papers must be formatted using the official NIAE-NINCID 2026 manuscript template, available for download below.
  • All submissions undergo review by the technical committee.
  • Presentation at the conference is conducted on Microsoft Teams.

How to submit

  1. Create an account on the Microsoft CMT portal.
  2. Select the relevant sub-theme.
  3. Upload your abstract before the deadline.
  4. Await notification of acceptance by email.

Submission is through Microsoft CMT (Conference Management Toolkit).
